AAA - Your Support is Needed
2010-01-20
The decision to retain the AAA league is going to be made soon .. Please continue to support the movement by contacting your local district and voicing your opinionsTitan Members:
I want to thank all of you that attended the AAA Special meeting this past Saturday. We had a good turn out and the presence of so many parents was commented on by Andy Baird (AAA Committee chair) and I think has played a role in influencing the thinking of the voting ODMHA members at the meeting.
The meeting was successful from my view as evidenced by John Weir (District 4 Chair) cancelling a special meeting he had for Monday night and stating he plans to have his entire group of Association Presidents and himself vote in favour of passing AAA on January 30th.
This is a positive step however I want to point out to pass AAA it was clarified at least 50% out of about 100 voting members of the ODMHA must be present on Jaunaury 30th and a 2/3rds majority is required to approve AAA. (Note the Titans carry 1 vote.) One key is to continue sending your input (if you have not already done so) of support into the D4 and D5 presidents and D5 Chair person to help influence them and bring them on board.
Note another positive step was while the AAA may not include major peewee and minor peewee in the coming season D4 is moving towards grandfathering these teams as Titan team next season so as to not distrupt the families and parents. Major Atom AA is likely to move to the OVSS though as its even less
likely Major Atom will be offered by the AAA League should AAA pass.
I have taken the liberty to attach the power point presentation that was used by the ODMHA on Saturday and is posted on their website. Some of the info is quite interesting, particularly the information contained in the graphs in terms of the balance that 'AAA' has achieved when compared to the 'AA' format.
Proper balance was one of the original goals of the pilot and was the main reason that Richmond/Munster, Osgoode/Rideau, Metcalfe etc. were taken from districts and put with the Cyclones to make up for losing Kingston.
It appears to be working.
